 Manasi Tapikar
Manasi
started training in Kathak dance under Smt. Shama Bhate at the
tender age of 8 years. Her apparent dedication, keen interest
in the subject and annate talent captivated her Guru immediately.
Sensing that she had a winner in her hands, Smt. Shama Bhate
focused her complete attention on this young disciple of hers
and put her through a gruelling schedule of training which Manasi
accepted with total delight. The more she learnt, the more her
passion for this dance form grew. So much so that today to promote
this art form and to dedicate the rest of her life to Kathak
is the aim of her life. Today, after twelve years of training
Manasi's dance reflects not only what she has learnt and imbibed
from her Guru but also the determination and power of her own
persona. Her performances are characterized by a maturity that
belie her age. There is a quite grace and controlled power which
marks every movement of hers.
