Sanjay Subrahmanyam
Sanjay
Subrahmanyam's style always strikes a balance between his creative
impulses and the imperative needs of kutcheri. No doubt he is
able to capture unmistakably the grandeur of Carnatic music. His
music, totally devoid of sentimentality, is absolutely sensual.
His powers of improvisation are evident in his raga essays and
laya exercises. Initially trained in violin and vocal by Sri Lakshminarayana,
he switched to vocal music and learnt from Smt. Rukmani Rajagopalan.
He had advanced training from Calcutta KS Krishnamurthi. He has
performed extensively in India and has received several awards
and titles, notable among them being Yuva Kala Bharathi in 1991,
"SANSKRITI" Award in 1997, Yogam Nagaswamy award from
The Music Academy in 1998, Nada Kala Bhushanam from Shanmukhananda
Sabha, Delhi in 1999, Kalki Krishnamoorthy Memorial award in 1999.
He has traveled to Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Muscat, France,
Switzerland and of course USA & Canada.

Seshagopalan, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, P. Unnikrishnan and TV Sankaranarayanan. every musician for the past four decades. He has earned the respect
and admiration of not only the rasikas, but also fellow artists
and is one of the senior mridangists in the Carnatic music scene
today. He received his training from Kumbhakonam Rajappa. He has
toured the USA more than 12 times and all over the world where
people love Carnatic music. He has been awarded many titles and
